A beautiful and easy bike route around Interlaken: Bödeli Route 380

Medieval villages, Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, and breathtaking landscapes await you

A beautiful, mostly flat route around Interlaken and its neighboring villages of Unterseen, Wilderswil, and Bönigen. The Aare River, Lake Thun, Lake Brienz, and the Lombach and Lütschine rivers are all within sight. Beautiful trails away from the center of Interlaken lead you to sights such as the ruins of Unspunnen Castle, the Weissenau observation tower on Lake Thun, and through green countryside dotted with cows, goats, and horses. In Wilderswil, you can marvel at wooden chalets that are over 500 years old! An easy and unforgettable tour around Interlaken.

IMPORTANT:

  • The Bödeli Route 380 is a loop. You can start right here at our bike shop, and you’ll end up back at the bike shop as well. Since it’s a loop, it doesn’t matter whether you head to Lake Brienz or Lake Thun first.
  • There are many more route options around Interlaken.
  • The Bödeli Route 380 mentioned above can easily be extended or shortened. Just let us know when you pick up your bikes or e-bikes, and we’ll explain the options for a lovely self-guided route.
  • You have the option of bringing children along on this route in a child seat or a bike trailer. We recommend a comfort e-bike if you plan to ride with a child seat or trailer.
  • Adults and teenagers under 16 can ride a regular bicycle (not an e-bike) if they are in good physical condition and cycle regularly (e-bikes are not permitted for riders under 16 in Switzerland). Route 380 is 95% flat, with the exception of two short climbs. These climbs can be bypassed. We’ll explain this option to you when you’re here.
  • For children between about 6 and 10 years old, the entire Route 380 is usually too long. We’ll explain the options and shortcuts to you once you’re here.
